Dynamic Pricing & Bid Increments

IPL-style tiered increments. Small for drama, large for speed. Fully customizable per grade.

How Dynamic Pricing Works

Bid increments determine how much the price jumps with each bid. CricSmart supports tiered bid increments — the same system used in the IPL — where increment size changes based on the current bid amount.

Tiered Increments

Small increments keep the auction dramatic and precise at lower bid amounts. Large increments speed things up when bids get high. For example:

  • Under ₹1 crore: ₹5 lakh increments (precise, strategic bidding)
  • ₹1 crore to ₹5 crore: ₹10 lakh increments (moderate pace)
  • Above ₹5 crore: ₹25 lakh increments (fast, prevents endless small jumps)

This mirrors the IPL approach and keeps the auction moving at a good pace without losing precision where it matters.

Per-Grade Increment Rules

You can set different increment rules per grade. Marquee players might use larger increments (₹10L) since they're expected to go for big money. Grade C players might use smaller increments (₹1L) since every lakh matters at lower price points. This gives you fine-grained control over auction pacing.

Custom Increment Templates

CricSmart provides preset templates (IPL-style, casual, fast-paced) that you can apply with one click. You can also create fully custom templates with your own tier thresholds and increment amounts. Save templates across auctions for consistency.

Max Bid Auto-Calculation

The system automatically calculates each team's maximum bid capacity based on their remaining purse and the number of slots they still need to fill. If a team has ₹20L remaining and needs 3 more players at a ₹1L minimum, their max bid is ₹18L — the system won't let them bid more and risk being unable to fill their squad. This prevents strategic errors and keeps the auction fair.

Configuring Bid Increments

1

Choose Increment Template

Start with a preset: IPL-style (tiered), casual (flat small), or fast-paced (flat large). Customize from there.

2

Set Tier Thresholds

Define price points where increment size changes. Example: ₹1Cr and ₹5Cr thresholds with ₹5L, ₹10L, ₹25L increments.

3

Configure Per-Grade Increments

Optionally set different increment rules per grade. Marquee: ₹10L, Grade C: ₹1L for precision.

4

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Choose the "casual" template for flat small increments or "fast-paced" for flat large increments. You can also create a custom template with a single tier.
It takes the team's remaining purse, subtracts the minimum required for unfilled squad slots (min player count × base price), and the remainder is the max bid. This prevents teams from overbidding and being unable to fill their squad.
It's not recommended. Changes mid-auction can confuse participants. Set increments before going live and lock them. If absolutely needed, admins can pause and adjust.
