Setting Up Teams & Purse Amounts

Create teams, set budgets, and give owners secure access — all without sharing passwords.

Creating Your Teams

With players graded and ordered, it's time to set up the teams that will bid for them. This step covers team branding, purse configuration, squad limits, and owner access.

Team Branding

Each team gets a name, logo, team color, and owner name. The logo and color appear on the broadcast overlay, spectator view, WhatsApp sold cards, and auction dashboard. Upload a PNG logo (transparent background recommended) and pick a team color — this gives your auction a professional, league-like appearance.

Team branding matters more than you might think. When team logos appear on the broadcast overlay and sold cards get shared on WhatsApp and Instagram, your league looks polished and sponsors notice.

Purse Amounts

The purse is each team's starting budget for the auction. Set the same purse for all teams for a level playing field, or set different purses for handicapping (stronger teams get less) or sponsor tiers (teams with bigger sponsors get more). CricSmart calculates remaining purse, spent amount, and max bid in real-time during the auction.

Common purse amounts: ₹50 lakhs for casual leagues, ₹1 crore for competitive, ₹5 crore for corporate or franchise-style leagues. The currency matches what you set in Step 1.

Max Squad Size

Define the maximum squad size per team (e.g., 15-25 players). This prevents teams from hoarding players and ensures all teams can fill their squads. The max bid calculator uses this to ensure teams reserve enough for minimum required slots.

Team Owner Access via Magic Links

CricSmart uses magic links for team owner access — no passwords to share or forget. Each team owner gets a unique link that logs them in directly. They can view their purse, place bids, and track their squad in real-time. The link is tied to their email, so it's secure and revocable.
