Adding Players to Your Auction

Three ways to add players. Upload Excel, enter manually, or let players self-register.

How to Populate the Player Pool

With your auction created, it's time to add players. CricSmart offers three methods to populate your player pool, so you can choose what works best for your league.

Method 1: Excel/CSV Import (Recommended)

The fastest way to add players is Excel or CSV import. Most leagues already have a player list in spreadsheet form — just upload it. CricSmart's smart column detection automatically recognizes common column headers: Name, Role, Phone, Base Price, and more. Extra columns (batting style, jersey number, CricHeroes link) become custom fields automatically — no manual configuration needed.

The import process includes a preview step so you can verify the data before confirming. Invalid rows (missing names, duplicate entries) are flagged for review.

Method 2: Manual Entry

For smaller auctions or last-minute additions, use manual entry. Add players one by one with a simple form — name, role, phone, base price, and any custom fields. This is perfect for adding a few late registrants after the bulk import.

Method 3: Player Self-Registration

Share a public registration link with your players. They fill out a custom registration form (which you build in Step 9) and submit their own details. This is ideal for open trials or leagues where players register individually.

CricHeroes Integration: If your players have CricHeroes profiles, you can link them to pull in real batting and bowling stats. These stats appear on player cards during the live auction, helping team owners make data-driven bidding decisions. CricSmart is the only platform with CricHeroes integration.

Frequently Asked Questions

Excel (.xlsx) and CSV (.csv) files. The smart column detection works with both. Most leagues use Excel — just upload your existing player list.
Only Name and Role are required. Role options: Batsman, Bowler, All-Rounder, Wicket-Keeper. Phone is optional but recommended for WhatsApp notifications. Base Price is optional (defaults to grade base price).
Extra columns automatically become custom fields on player cards. For example, "Batting Style", "Jersey Number", or "CricHeroes Link" will appear on the player card during the live auction.
You can add players before going live. Once the auction is live, you cannot add new players, but you can mark existing players as unsold and re-present them.
