Setting Up Player Grades

IPL-style grading with custom base prices, increments, and color-coded badges.

Why Player Grading Matters

Player grading is what makes your auction feel professional. Instead of a flat list of players with the same base price, you create IPL-style tiers — Marquee, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C — each with its own base price, bid increment, and visual identity.

How IPL-Style Grading Works

In the IPL mega auction, players are categorized into grades. Marquee players are the stars — highest base prices, biggest bids, most drama. Grade A players are top-tier regulars. Grade B and C are budget options for filling squad slots. CricSmart replicates this system exactly.

Per-grade base prices: Set different starting prices for each grade. Marquee might start at ₹50 lakhs, Grade A at ₹30L, Grade B at ₹20L, Grade C at ₹10L. This ensures top players start high and budget players remain affordable.

Per-grade bid increments: Different grades can have different bid increments. Marquee might jump in ₹10L increments (fast, dramatic), while Grade C moves in ₹1L increments (strategic, precise). This speeds up the auction for big names and adds precision for budget picks.

Grade colors and badges: Each grade gets a distinct color (e.g., Marquee = gold, A = purple, B = blue, C = green). These appear as color-coded badges on player cards during the live auction and broadcast overlay — making the event visually professional.

Sequential vs Mixed Mode

Sequential mode auctions all Marquee players first, then Grade A, then B, then C — exactly like the IPL mega auction. This builds excitement early with star players and lets teams plan grade-by-grade. Mixed mode shuffles all grades together randomly, creating a different strategic challenge where teams must balance grade awareness with unpredictable ordering.

Creating Your Grades

1

Open Grade Manager

From your auction dashboard, navigate to Grade Manager. This is where you create and configure all grades.

2

Create Grades

Add grades like Marquee, Grade A, Grade B, Grade C. Or use custom names: Elite, Star, Premium, Budget.

3

Set Base Prices

Assign a base price for each grade. Example: Marquee ₹50L, A ₹30L, B ₹20L, C ₹10L.

4

Set Bid Increments

Configure bid increment per grade. Example: Marquee ₹10L, A ₹5L, B ₹2L, C ₹1L.

5

Assign Colors

Pick a distinct color for each grade. These become color-coded badges on player cards and broadcast overlay.
